Italian Riviera - Camogli, Liguria, Italy
See the Gorgeous Riveria Levante of one of the oldest villages on the sea in this area. Even complete with it's own castle that was built to protect the village from Pirates!
Why Authentic:
Built on a hill, windy streets wind you down to an amazing promenade overlooking the beautiful rocky beach. The village is named after the women that took care of the town while the men were at sea. Very delicious food in restaurants with amazing views of the sea, especially at sunset. This is one of the oldest Italian seaside villages. Very warm atmosphere, with locals who take are.
Activities:
Hiking along the coast/swimming in the absolutely amazing Emerald Sea!
Cooking classes in local restaurants
Boat trips to Portofino, Fruttoso, and Cinque Terra
Lodging stayed in:
La Camogliese ** - 21 rooms, + 2 Apartments books far in advance because of it's pricing and location. (We have an "in" at this "inn" so let us help you). Single rooms 70 euros and Doubles at 100 euros/night. An abundant breakfast buffet is included and wifi throughout the hotel. Pets are allowed, but large dogs are not encouraged. Minimum nights reguired. This is my top recommendation for the area for budget travelers.

The views are absolutely amazing, and your mediteranean tan will go well as you sip on your afternoon cocktails ;-) 2 Restaurants serving American Breakfast /lunch/dinner.
